Small Mammals, Birds & Reptiles

We frequently see guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, mice and the occasional rat and chinchilla. We also see reptiles and birds occasionally; the majority of the birds we see are wild, and we do our best to re-habilitate these and other injured wild animals and return them to their environment. We do not charge for this work with wild creatures.

We work with a small zoo in our locality and some of our vet and nursing staff have a special interest in reptiles, chelonians and exotic species. We are very happy to provide health care and advice on these species, and can obtain specialist advice where necessary.

We advise annual vaccination to protect your rabbit against Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease. This is an ideal opportunity for your rabbit to undergo a health check.

Dental procedures are commonly required for small mammals, and if you suspect that your pet has dental problems, do seek our prompt advice.

We routinely neuter rabbits, and occasionally guinea pigs.

Our nurses can provide husbandry and nutrition advice for your pet; simply contact the surgery.
